This month's theme is all about 'Baking and Celebrations'. We will be
making pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, Making something special for Mothers
Day and making porridge for Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The activities that Stepping Stones 'Early Years Unit' will be doing to support the Foundation curriculum are listed below.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development

- Calculating using compare bears
- Using numbers as labels for baking
Physical Development
- Using tongs and chopsticks to pick up pasta and other malleable materials
- Action songs
- Tossing pancakse game
- Observing safety when using tools and equipment
Knowledge and Understanding of the World
- Observing celebrations eg Chinese New Year, Valentines Day and Mothers Day
- Melting and setting chocolate
- Combining cooking ingredients and noting how they change
Creative Development
- Role play Chinese restaurant/ take away
- model making
- Mixing Colours
How Can you Help Your Childs Learning?
- Encourage your child to complete the letter of the month sheet and return it to nursey for their folder.
- Try baking activities at home or sample baked products from the shop and talk about the ingredients
